Boys lose two, win one

The Hill City High School Ranger boys basketball team took on three games last week with mixed results.
First, they traveled to Sturgis Brown High School Jan. 23 for a game against the Scoopers. Historically, the Scoopers have beaten the Rangers by 59-42 in 2022 and 52-45 in 2023. This year, the Scoopers went after another win despite standing at 2-5 for the season before the game.
The Rangers lost the game 62-47.
Next, the Rangers traveled to Wall High School to face the Eagles Jan. 25. The Eagles have statistically beaten the Rangers as well with scores of 70-62 in 2022 and 81-78 in 2023. This year the Rangers turned the tables and won 70-55.
Finally, the Rangers participated in the Blizzard Buster Classic at Irene-Wakonda High School Jan. 27 and played a game against the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds. The last time the Rangers played the Warbirds was Jan. 28, 2023, when the Warbirds won 59-50.
The score was closer this year, but the Rangers lost 68-66.
This week the Rangers are traveling to Lakota Tech High School for a game against the Tatanka Saturday, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
