Cynthia Smith
Cynthia Mae Smith was born July 31, 1966, in Rapid City, S.D., to Ronald E. Wheeler and Deloris J. Tisler (Nelson).
Cynthia grew up in Custer, S.D., graduated high school in 1984 and married Darcy D. Smith Feb. 8, 1986.
She was an avid cook and became a manager at Pizza Hut, and later, manager at Big D. She had a love for horses and reading romantic novels. She put a smile on all who talked to her. She enjoyed her customers as well.
Cynthia passed away Oct. 28, 2020, in Rapid City at a hospice house care facility. She was 54.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald E. Wheeler.
Cynthia is survived by her mother, Deloris J. Tisler in McCleray, Wash.; husband, Darcy D. Smith of Custer; three children, Samuel W. Smith, Tabihta E. Austin (Smith) and David R. Smith; three granddaughters; two brothers, Jim Wheeler of Byron, Ga., and Leonard Wheeler of Glendale, Ariz.; halfbrother, R.J. Wheeler; halfsister, Opal Wheeler of Belle Fourche, S.D.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Committal services were Oct. 31 at Custer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Cynthia’s name.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
