The Ranger Boys Golf team competed in the Black Hills Conference golf tournament at the Tomahawk Golf Course in Deadwood Tuesday, Sept. 24. Most of the Black Hills Conference schools are Class A or AA in boys golf and those classes play in the fall. The Rangers are a Class B team and have their season in the spring but are still invited to the tournament since they are a Black Hills Conference school.
Two familiar names, Leo Daiss and Zane Messick, both fired 85s to tie for 11th place out of the field of 60 golfers. Those finishes were good enough to qualify both golfers as All Black Hills Conference.
Adolph Tyler and Max Rupert also participated in the tournament firing 103 and 118 respectively.
Hill City finished eighth with a score of 391.
“Most of our kids are currently participating in other sports, so their focus is not necessarily on golf right now, saiad coach Josh Daiss. “Having said that, it’s always fun to get out and play some different golf courses against different teams in the fall.”
The Rangers will continue to work during the offseason keeping an eye on the spring season to come.
