Sharyl Huntington
Sharyl Gae Huntington was born in Billings, Mont., to Robert Bruce Stark and Billie June Stark June 28, 1942. The family moved to California when she was 3 years old, and she met her best friend, Donna Scheer, at 7. At the age of 8 she chose the life of the Lord in the Catholic faith.
Sharyl met her future husband, Ross Allen Huntington, in junior high school, and at age 13 he asked her to marry him. At that time she said no, but toward her senior year she said yes. They were married on Dec. 23, 1959, and through the next decade they were blessed with four children: Ross Allen Huntington Jr., Tamara Dee Huntington, Twylla Dean Huntington and Sonya Gae Huntington.
Sharyl loved to travel, but sometimes the easiest way to do that was to move when she wanted to go. Her friends and family used to tease her that she had gypsy blood.
She lost her daughter, Tamara, in March of 1983, and then adopted her two grandchildren, Brandi Lee Huntington and Jeremy Wayne Huntington. In 1989 she lost her husband, but she became the spiritual rock for all of her children and later extended family. Basically, she helped raise children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including friends of theirs.
Sharyl worked in the health field most of her life but also learned to be a beautician.
Sharly died Feb. 25, 2020, at Hospice House in Rapid City, S.D. She was 77.
She is survived by her sons, Ross A. (Marsha) Huntington Jr. and Jeremy Wayne (Jessica Quenzer) Huntington; daughters, Twylla Dean (Larry) Napolitano, Sonya Gae (Bruce) Rath, Brandi Lee (Matt Brown) Huntington; grandchildren, Jessica (Jim) Frye, Amber Lynn (Shane) Verel.
