Tiffany Johnson releases debut album

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Tiffany Johnson has deeps roots in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where she grew up performing, beginning at the age of 7.
Johnson’s love of being on stage began with dance. 
“When I was little, I did ballet and tap. That’s how I got exposed to performing and just loving that feeling,” she said. 
From being on stage to hanging out backstage, “from the first time I got to do it, I just loved that,” said Johnson.

Inner Workings coming to Hill City Main Street

Inner Workings, a handcrafted metal art gallery, will be coming soon to Hill City’s Main Street.
The name is as representative as the art itself. 
After losing her job, Cari Sherman’s mother-in-law encouraged her to take a jewelry making class. From there, her craft evolved into metal work.
Cari found that creating art was a way for her to cope with her PTSD from her time serving in the military during Operation Iraqi Freedom. When she concentrates on her craft, “I can tune the world out,” said Cari.

Chamber dinner highlights goals, community

The Hill City Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner giving an overview of its marketing strategies, financials and recognizing some people from the Heart of the Hills community.
The April 25 event was held at the Diamond Spur Events Center and was catered by the 1885 Steakhouse and Saloon.
Board treasurer Eric Lind gave a picture of the chamber’s financial situation,which he said spends “87 percent of its dollars on marketing.” Lind said in 2025 the chamber had revenue of $369,587 and expenses of $380,098.

Tourism Week brings customer service seminar to Hill City

National Travel and Tourism week is May 3-9, recognizing the essential role travel plays in strengthening communities, powering our economy and connecting America. 
This year’s theme is “Postmarked Essential,” according to the U.S. Travel Association, highlighting travel’s fundamental role in America’s economy and workforce, supporting 15 million jobs and generating critical tax revenue that supports public services and community infrastructure.

National Day of Prayer set for May 7

Every year from sunrise in Maine to sunset in Hawaii, on the first Thursday in May, local, state and federal observances are held for the National Day of Prayer (NDP). This is a historic year as we celebrate not only the 75th anniversary of the NDP, but 250 years as a nation. In Hill City, on May 7 two events are planned.
Lunch and prayer will be at noon at the Little White Church, and supper and prayer are scheduled at 5:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. According to organizers, everyone is welcome to attend these events.
