I just got the cutest card in the mail from my former neighbors, Peter and Ursala. They are in their 80s, 30 years my senior.

We lived next door to each other for two years. I remember when I first moved in Peter came over to introduce himself and made it clear that the previous neighbor “closed the door wrong.”

Reading is an important part of my life.

The reason why I became an English major in college? So I could read and write papers on what I read.

But too many people — especially in my generation and the generation below me — don’t read.
