Dianne Murray
Dianne June Murray was born June 27, 1930, in Omaha, Neb., to parents Charles and June Clines.
Dianne and her parents moved to Hill City, S.D., in 1946. She graduated from Hill City High School in 1948. Dianne’s family began a business that grew to become Dianne’s Gift Corral and Hillyo Museum, well known for its “Cherry Cider.” The Gift Corral operated until 1990.
Dianne married Dean Murray in 1959 and the couple had three children. She, along with her husband Dean, also owned and operated Double D Drug in Hill City from 1985-91. Dianne resided in the Hill City area for 70 years before moving to Roseville, Minn., in 2016.
Dianne was a talented artist and discovered her gift in painting china. She displayed and sold her work at ArtForms Gallery in Hill City. She was active in her community, performing with the Hill City Fife and Drum Corps, and entertaining summer visitors in Hill City’s Main Street “Shoot-Out” in the role of “Ms. Ruby.” Dianne loved animals, especially cats, having had many pets over the years, along with her beloved dog “Ghost.”
Dianne passed away Aug. 22, 2024. She was 94.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; and son, Charles.
Dianne is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Dan) Bruess and Deana (Barry) Parrish; three grandchildren, Ian (Danielle) Bruess, Anna (Nnamdi) Nwaneri and Bryce (Lexi) Parrish; and great-grandson, Vandin Parrish.
There will be a celebration of Dianne’s life this coming June 2025.
