Jadwiga Ziolkowski retires from Crazy Horse
Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation’s board chair Joe Dobbs announced that the executive committee of the board of directors accepted Jadwiga Ziolkowski’s request to retire from her position as co-CEO of Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation to spend more time with her family.
Ziolkowski’s leadership impact on the memorial has been significant with major accomplishments cited in developing The Indian University of North America, advancing Native American cultural programs and building on the dream of her parents, sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski and his wife, Ruth.
In 2014 the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation board of directors appointed Ziolkowski as co-CEO of Crazy Horse Memorial, along with her sister Monique Ziolkowski after CEO/president of the Memorial Ruth Ziolkowski passed away.
“On behalf of the board of directors, I extend my gratitude to Jadwiga for her leadership and service to the memorial,” Dobb said. “We wish her all the best. A retirement gathering will be held in her honor at the memorial once the pandemic settles.”
“Crazy Horse Memorial is a noble cause, one that I have gladly served for over 60 years and one in which my heart and life will always be invested,” said Ziolkowski.
