Petitions open for council, school board positions

The circulation of nominating election petitions begins March 1. This year there will be vacant seats on the Hill City Common Council and Hill City School District Board of Education due to the expiration of present terms or the resignation of elective officers. 
On the Hill City Common Council, the seat currently belonging to Carl Doaty for Alderman Ward I is up for election. Additionally, alderman Ward II, Gary Auch’s position, is up for election. Both positions are for a two-year term. 
The circulation of nominating positions may now be filed in the office of the finance officer at 243 Deerfield Road between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or mailed by registered mail. All petitions must be filed by 5 p.m. on Mar. 28. 
For the Hill City School District Board of Education, the position belonging to Todd Grabow is up for election. This position is a three-year term for a member residing within the Hill City School District 51-2. 
Petitions for this position may be filed in the office of business manager Anjar Voorhees at the Hill City High School building at 488 Main Street between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. or mailed by registered mail. Petitions must be filed by 5 p.m. on Mar. 28. 
The Keystone Town Board also has two trustee positions that will be vacant due to the expiration of the term or the resignation of elective officers. However, the deadline for filing petitions was on Feb. 24. 
Three candidates will be running for these three-year term positions. They are Lynette Gohsman, Will Parks and Casey McNulty.
