Golf is ready to swing into action with the Hill City Rangers golf team traveling to Mitchell for the Class B invite April 10 for the team’s first outing.
The team began the season with a creek walk and lost ball clean-up at its host course, Hart Ranch Golf Club in Rapid City April 2.
“We will have a full team of 10 boys out for the team this year,” said returning head coach Josh Daiss.
Seniors Zane Messick and Max Rupert as well as junior Breylon Rahn are returning varsity members from last year’s team.
That team finished fourth at the 2025 state tournament and won the  region six championship.
Daiss said this year’s team will “have a strong group of younger kids who will be battling for the remaining varsity roster spots.”
Once again the Rangers will have some stiff competition this season facing the Wall Eagles, who finished second at state, and Philip, who finished sixth.
“Both each return their entire rosters,” said Daiss.
The Hill City golf program is also growing with three middle school girls making up the girls team this year.
“I am excited for them to build the girls program,” Daiss said.
