After losing an eight-game winning streak by one point in a game against the Custer Wildcats, the Hill City High School Ranger girls basketball team rallied and claimed two more victories last week.
First, the Rangers had a home game against the Newell Irrigators. Historically, the Rangers have beaten the Irrigators, winning by 54-24 in 2022 and 40-32 in 2023. This time, the Rangers won 52-18.
Next, the Rangers traveled to Lakota Tech High School to face the Tatanka Feb. 3. The Tatanka have typically been a challenging opponent and beat the Rangers by 57-36 in 2022 and 33-29 in 2023. This year the Rangers turned the tables and beat the Tatanka 39-33.
The Ranger girls also had a home game against the Douglas Patriots Tuesday, Feb. 6.
Results were not available upon publication.
Next week the Ranger girls will have another shot at the Custer Wildcats during a game at the Custer Armory Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
