Shirley Boman

Shirley Ann (Muhm)  Boman was born Feb. 23, 1945, in Igloo, S.D., one of 12 children of Frederick Wayne Muhm and Mae Lillian Beeson Muhm.
She graduated high school in 1963 and entered the U.S. Army, where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Edward Boman at Fort Lee, Va. Feb. 26, 1965.
They were both released from the service in March 1965 and they moved to Benzonia, Mich., for six months, then moved to Igloo, S.S., where Charles worked for the government until March 1966. They were transferred to Virginia at Fort Lee, where they lived for 18 years. Then they were transferred to Illinois where they lived for eight years until Charles retired in 1988.
Shirley worked as an LPN for 10 years, and five years as a voucher examiner for the finance and accounting office in Fort Sheridan, Ill. They then moved to Edgemont, S.D., where they spent the rest of their lives. Shirley had a love for gardening, flowers and painting. She was very artistic and had wonderful paintings she has done. She loved spending time with family, friends and her animals. Shirley always had a beautiful smile and the warmest hug. She will be terribly missed, but never forgotten.
Shirley passed away Aug. 30, 2024, at Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs, S.D. She was 79.
She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, and all of her brothers and sisters.
Shirley is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 9, at Edgemont Baptist Church.  
Committal services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D., with military honors presented.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
