The Town of Keystone held its first budget hearing Aug. 12. While the meeting focused on fiscal year 2027, an immediate concern is how to fill a trustee vacancy after Nikki Ball announced her resignation due to health reasons.
“I’d like to thank everybody who voted for me,” said Ball. “I’m very sorry I can’t fulfill the rest of my term,.”
A Minnesota man died Monday, Aug. 10 in a single-vehicle crash near Hill City.
Preliminary crash information indicates Joshua Jordan Cornelius, the driver of a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was traveling northbound on Deerfield Road near Marshal Gulch Road. Cornelius passed a vehicle and lost control when returning to his lane. The motorcycle entered the northbound ditch and rolled. Cornelius sustained fatal injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
