Custer County has a definition of the principal and predominant use of ag land. It has Pennington County to thank for that, at least, for the latter.
When ag landowners reapply for ag land status beginning July 1 (due by Nov. 1) as they are required to do every five years, they will find new criteria awaiting them at the county’s Director of Equalization office, thanks to a change in state law and the county’s new definitions that help determine whether those applicants meet the first qualification to receive ag land status.
